Civil Leader – Structural Team

Our client is seeking a Civil Leader to play a key role in the management and growth of our Structural Team. This senior position combines technical expertise with leadership, business development, and client relationship management.

Working closely with the Director, you will take responsibility for the organisation, delivery, and management of projects while also shaping the direction of the team. This is an opportunity to step into a role where your influence extends beyond engineering outcomes — you'll contribute to strategy, operations, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director in the overall management, operations, and growth of the business.
  • Lead the organisation and delivery of projects, ensuring professional, timely, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Undertake structural analysis and design in line with Australian Standards and industry best practice.
  • Act as a professional signatory for engineering certifications where required.
  • Prepare fee proposals and drive business development opportunities beyond existing client networks.
  • Mentor, guide, and manage staff to achieve project and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and professional networks.
  • Report monthly to the Director on operational activities, project performance, and growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with client-facing experience.
  • High-level technical expertise in structural engineering and design software.
  • Organised and adaptable, capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Business development mindset with demonstrated ability in fee proposals and generating opportunities.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or eligibility, preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management and team leadership capability.
  • Background in business development, client management, and fee proposal preparation.

Why Join?

You'll join a business with a strong reputation in engineering delivery, where leadership is encouraged, and your contribution will directly shape the future of the team. This is a chance to combine technical authority with strategic influence, working on meaningful projects while building long-term client relationships and leading a capable, growing team.
