Your office? Sydney Harbour.

Your job? Driving a 30m Ferretti Custom Line 97 that just happens to look like a five-star hotel on water.

We're looking for an experienced and professional Captain with serious skills and an engineering edge to take command of Thirteen - a luxury private family yacht (not for charter) that's all about safe cruising, big smiles, and epic East Coast adventures.

This isn't just another gig. It's one of those "best jobs in Australia" kind of roles.

This is a rare permanent opportunity primarily based out of Jones Bay Marina in Pyrmont, offering year-round stability that allows you to focus on operational excellence while being part of a HNW family.

About you
  • A passionate Captain who understands how to take care of luxury safely
  • Hold boat licence and engineering qualification
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, superior technical background and intuitive understanding of modern vessel systems
  • Minimum 3 years command experience on vessels around 30m and confident navigating busy harbours or exploring open chartered waters to deliver onboard experiences
  • A professional but approachable attitude (think safety-first, but can still have a laugh) and an ability to engage with guests of all ages
  • As Captain, experience hosting onboard planned events and gatherings (invitation only) within capacity, supported by catering staff and event planners
  • An excellent communicator and an ability to maintain high standards at all times
  • With notice, willingness to travel to other coastal areas for periods of time
  • Experience managing crew, contractors and stakeholders to maintain Thirteen within an allocated operating budget
  • Competent in managing other vessels and watercraft - small boats, tenders, jet skis etc
  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required, with time off arranged mid-week
  • Previous Ferretti Yacht experience preferred but not essential
  • Knowledgeable of Australian waters and seasonal conditions

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • NSW General Boat Licence (Coxswain Grade 2 Marine Licence or equivalent interstate/international commercial marine licence)
  • Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED 2) certificate or equivalent marine engineering qualification recognised by Australian Maritime Safety Authority
  • Documentation of minimum 3 years command experience on large leisure motor yachts (60 ft up to 100 ft) with exceptional close quarters handling skills
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency with full work rights in Australia
  • Ability to pass police background checks and maritime security identification card (MSIC) requirements
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • Complete pre-employment medical and drug testing (as required)
  • Eligible to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWC)
  • Provide 2 or more previous employment references
