Accounts Pauable Officer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Payable Officer to join our finance team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day processing of accounts payable transactions, ensuring that invoices and payments are completed accurately and on time. The successful candidate will also assist with month-end reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements within the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Process purchases orders ensuring details are accurate and appropriately authorised.
- Match invoices with purchase orders and goods received notes.
- Process supplier invoices and ensure timely approval.
- Process weekly payments to creditors.
- Review creditor statements and reconcile discrepancies.
- Review and provide copies of Aged Debtors and Creditors reports.
- Respond promptly to supplier and creditor inquiries.
- Assist in the documentation of accounts policies and procedures.
- Complete end-of-month billing with accuracy and within required timeframes.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
- Maintain a high level of internal and external customer service.
- Perform other ad hoc duties and tasks to support the finance team.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Accounts Payable or a similar finance role.
- Strong understanding of invoice processing, coding, and payment procedures.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage) (advantageous).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in construction, engineering, or project-based environments (advantageous).
What We're Looking For:
- Degree / Diploma in accounting or finance
- Sound knowledge of GST and Australian accounting standards.
- Proven experience working in Accounts Payable (mandatory)
