About the Role

The Counsellor/Educator – Pathways Program is responsible for delivering culturally secure, educational, and therapeutic support to individuals participating in alcohol and other drug treatment within Albany Prison.

  • Deliver the Pathways program to participants in Albany Prison in line with the service agreement.
  • Design and facilitate educational and therapeutic sessions within a correctional setting.
  • Support data collection and reporting requirements under the Department of Justice contract.
  • Provide assessments, counselling, and ongoing support to participants.
  • Collaborate across services to support continuity of care and post-custody transitions.

This role is classified at Level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.

What We're Looking For

You're more than your qualifications—you're someone who brings heart, empathy, professionalism and a strong commitment to supporting clients in improving their wellbeing. The ideal candidate will meet the following selection criteria:

  • Hold, a relevant tertiary qualification in social, behavioral or health sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated and well-developed assessment and counselling skills.
  • Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational group therapeutic programs, preferably in a prison context.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of alcohol and other drug issues.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is essential.
