About the Role:

This specialist service provides dedicated support to Aboriginal women and children experiencing family violence. Operating a high-security refuge in northern Melbourne, the organisation offers a culturally safe, respectful, and healing environment for those seeking safety.

We are seeking an experienced leader to manage the day-to-day operations of the high-security refuge, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally strong support for women and their families.

Key duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of refuge operations, ensuring properties are safe, secure, and welcoming.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a dedicated team of case managers and support staff.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with organisational values, policies, and compliance standards, including MARAM, FVISS, and CISS frameworks.
  • Develop and monitor operational plans, budgets, and program improvements.
  • Represent the organisation in external networks, partnerships, and community forums.
  • Maintain a strong focus on cultural safety and healing-oriented practice.

To succeed, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, community services, or a related field.
  • Must meet REC209
  • Extensive Family Violence experience
  • Proven leadership and staff management experience in the family violence or community services sector.
  • A deep understanding of the experiences, needs, and cultural rights of Aboriginal women and children.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant frameworks, legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
