About Us
Andale School is a small, independent primary school located in Kew, catering to students aged 5–13 who experience language and learning difficulties and require a tailored learning environment outside of mainstream settings. With a strong commitment to neuroaffirming and trauma-informed practices, we provide a nurturing, inclusive space where every child is seen, heard, and supported.
Our multidisciplinary team includes classroom teachers, education support staff, a School Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, and Occupational Therapist. Together, we deliver a rich curriculum aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, encompassing literacy, numeracy, integrated studies, creative arts, physical education, social strategies, kitchen garden, and yoga.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Classroom Teacher to join our dedicated team. This role is ideal for an educator who values individualised learning, embraces neurodiversity, and is committed to fostering growth across all developmental domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans aligned with the Victorian Curriculum.
- Apply neuroaffirming and trauma-informed practices to support student wellbeing and autonomy.
- Collaborate with allied health professionals to support holistic student development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing meaningful feedback and reporting to families.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, camps, excursions, and community events.
About You
You are an empathetic, reflective educator who:
- Understands how children learn, particularly those with language and learning differences.
- Uses the science of learning to inform teaching strategies that support memory, attention, and cognitive load.
- Creates safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments.
- Communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Values professional growth and collaborative practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- Experience or interest in special education, neurodiversity, or trauma-informed practice.
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum.
- Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
