About the Centre/Service

Davis Street Kindergarten is a community of learners, where children are encouraged to develop a strong self-image and love of learning. We have a rich history and tradition, and have been offering an early childhood service of the highest quality since 1958. The Kindergarten building has two classrooms: offering one sessional 3YO program, a sessional 4YO program, and a 4YO Pre-Prep program. All of our programs are influenced by the educational projects of Reggio Emilia. Our kindergarten and programs are highly regarded within the Community; we have been assessed against the National Quality Framework and have received an overall rating of 'Exceeding' in 2022. Our programs reflect an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander's ways of knowing and being. Our programs are delivered by creative and experienced team members in welcoming classrooms with two stimulating outdoor gardens, giving us amongst the largest kindergarten grounds within Boroondara. Our team members are highly skilled, many have longevity of service, and have a strong commitment to professional development, with each staff member encouraged to be a champion in their preferred field. Description

We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our 4-year-old Pre-Prep group (of up to 27 children) to start in line with Term 1 in 2026 for 3 days per week. To join our team, you will be well organised, show initiative and possess excellent communication skills. You will work in a team of 6, consisting of experienced Teachers and Educators. Applicants need only apply if keen to embrace and learn about the Reggio Emilia approach to children's education. There is opportunity to undertake additional hours within other programs throughout the year if interested. Casual work may be available prior to starting.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria

  • Certificate 3 or Diploma in Children's Services (ACECQA approved)

  • Hold a current Working with Children Check, Police Record Check, and current First Aid Certificate with CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training.

  • Have a sound knowledge of the Education & Care Services National Law Act and Regulations, The National Quality Standards, Child Safe Standards and the Victoria Early Years Learning and Development Framework

  • Experience working in a kindergarten setting, experience with the Reggio Emilia Framework is viewed favourably.

  • Able to implement and support programs through observation, assessment and reflection.

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative, an ability to prioritise your time and be well organised

  • Have an openness to learning and the principles of the Reggio Emilia Framework

  • Sound oral and written communication skills
