About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter who thrives on hands-on mechanical challenges and enjoys working in dynamic, mobile environments. As a key member of our Field Services team, you will support BHP's major operational sites across the Pilbara, including Newman, South Flank, Area C, Jimblebar and Yandi. Key Responsibilities;
- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy diesel equipment, particularly Liebherr 9400, Liebherr 996, Liebherr 9600 and occasionally Epiroc PV-271, Epiroc D65.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
- Set up and pack down the fully mobile workshop on-site, supporting the roving team's self-sufficiency and adaptability.
- Work outdoors in variable Pilbara conditions, maintaining strong environmental awareness.
- Contributing to safety compliance and adhering to OH&S standards in a mining environment.
- Supporting a positive, team-oriented and safety-focused work culture.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Diesel Fitter working on Liebherr, Hitachi, or Cat heavy machinery.
- Ability to perform maintenance and repairs in a field environment.
- Comfort working outdoors in varied Pilbara conditions.
- Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently within a tight-knit team.
- Flexibility and physical stamina to support packing and transportation of workshop equipment.
- A positive, can-do attitude suited to a fast-paced, ever-changing work setting.
Why Join Us?
- Competitive Salaries and Benefits: including discounted health insurance, novated leasing and many more
- Shareplus Employee Share Plan: Employees can purchase BHP shares and receive a one-for-one match after a minimum holding period
- Strong Recognition Culture: BHP has a global recognition program ("Big Thanks") that celebrates achievements, milestones, and values-based contributions
- Work-Life Balance and Lifestyle Benefits: BHP emphasizes lifestyle support, offering flexible work arrangements, FIFO opportunities, and various leave options to maintain balance during your career
- Inclusive, Safe, and Supportive Work Environment: BHP prioritizes safety as its highest commitment, fosters workplace diversity and inclusion, offers 24/7 confidential counselling support, and provides a culture that values respect, wellbeing, and career development
