We are a leading timber production center located in Launceston, Tasmania, dedicated to delivering high-quality timber and wood-based products. With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainable practices, we are now seeking a proactive and hands-on Yard Manager to join our high-performing team.

The Role

As the Yard Manager, you will oversee key aspects of our site operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production in line with performance targets. The role will commence January 2026 and report to the Dry mill manager & include direct oversight responsibility for boiler and kiln drying operations, boiler & pellet fuel management, pellet mill operations, and management of yard personnel.

This position requires a balance of operational oversight, people management, and monitoring of production metrics to maintain consistent output and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee boiler and kiln drying operations to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Oversee Kiln dried product compliance monitoring ensuring adequate shape and volume to support the Dry mill.
  • Manage and coordinate pellet mill operations, including monitoring fuel & output levels.
  • Supervise and support yard & racking personnel to achieve production targets.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics for racker and pellet mill performance.
  • Oversee air-dried product maturity monitoring and positioning in the yard.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability.

  • A proactive, safety-focused approach with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Willingness to learn technical operations (training provided).
