Electrical Engineer – Solar

We're seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong technical expertise in solar PV and battery storage design, compliance, and system optimisation.

Reporting to the General Manager – Nectr Solar, the Electrical Engineer will lead the design, review, and optimisation of electrical systems for solar PV and battery projects. You will ensure designs meet Australian Standards and grid-connection requirements, support procurement and tenders with technical input, and provide troubleshooting and post-sales support across our portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

Design & Engineering:

• Develop and review electrical system designs, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).
• Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3000, 4777, 5033 and related standards.
• Maintain design libraries and contribute to standardisation.
• Hold or be eligible for Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation in design/installation.

Procurement & Technical Evaluation:

• Support product selection and vendor assessments.
• Manage approved product portfolios to align with project and budget requirements.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

• Prepare compliance documentation and support audits.
• Conduct risk assessments and technical reviews.
• Ensure designs meet CEC and Australian grid-connection compliance.

Project & Tender Support:

• Provide engineering input for tenders and client workshops.
• Collaborate with project managers to review technical feasibility and risk.

Troubleshooting & Post-Sales:

• Resolve post-installation technical issues.
• Support warranty claims and performance investigations.
• Recommend engineering improvements from field feedback.

Commercial & Process Improvement:

• Contribute to cost savings and performance through efficient engineering practices.
• Implement continuous improvement in design and delivery processes.

You are a technically skilled engineer with a strong grounding in renewable energy system design and compliance. You can balance technical precision with commercial outcomes, while working collaboratively across teams.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (essential).
• CPEng or RPEQ accreditation desirable.
• 2+ years' experience in solar PV/battery electrical design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar design tools.
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards and grid-connection rules.
• Experience with procurement, product evaluation, and vendor engagement.
