About The Role
We're looking for a strategic Commercial Lead to join our Non Op & Exploration team. This key role provides specialised commercial and contract management expertise to APLNG's non-operated joint ventures (JVs), with a mandate to maximise value and minimise risk. You will be responsible for developing and executing the Non-Operated Asset JV strategy, managing partner relationships, and driving critical initiatives focused on optimising production, lowering the cost of supply, and advancing decarbonisation across the JV asset portfolio.
More about the role:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the non-operated Asset team, ensuring all strategic and operational deliverables are met.
- Develop and execute comprehensive asset management plans that cover compliance, production forecasts, activity schedules, and evergreen economic evaluation.
- Proactively manage all joint venture (JV) rights and obligations for Origin as a non-operator, ensuring the operator adheres to contractual arrangements.
- Build strong working relationships with operator representatives and apply effective influencing tactics at JV meetings to secure preferred outcomes for APLNG.
- Lead the review and assessment of routine operator proposals (e.g., AFEs) and complex capital investment proposals, managing internal approvals.
- Monitor and manage JV risks in line with Origin's directives, ensuring contractual obligations and responsibilities are clearly documented and operationalised.
- Collaborate with Business Development to identify and deliver new non-operated value opportunities (e.g., acquisitions, divestments) to optimize APLNG's long-term supply.
- Deliver expert commercial advice and strategies to senior management, including leading and managing commercially significant disputes and mediation.

More about you
- Extensive experience in negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements and relationships.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Leadership ability, with ability to coach and develop and hold team accountable for deliverables.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of upstream oil & gas sector in Australia and in particular joint venture agreements.
- Problems solving mindset.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering or Law).
- Proven experience in relevant roles.
Desirable:
- Working understanding of economic analysis incorporating principles such as NPV, IRR and incremental economics.
- Demonstrated experience in managing joint ventures.
