About The Role
The House Manager Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care (ITTC) is responsible for the delivery of high quality therapeutic care that promotes the emotional, social and behavioural needs of vulnerable young in Intensive Therapeutic Care.
This position works within a trauma informed therapeutic framework and is responsible for the leadership, supervision, support and development of the ITTC Therapeutic Youth Work team. The House Manager ITTC works closely with the Therapeutic Specialist, Caseworker, Coordinator and other ITTC staff to provide high quality therapeutic care and assist young people to heal from trauma and achieve their full potential.
This is a Permanent Full-time opportunity based in Royalla NSW within our Intensive Therapeutic Transitional Care program and reports to the Regional Manager - ACT and SNSW.
Key Area Of Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the ITTC Home including ensuring the needs of young people are met, and the ITTC Home's roster is managed in a way that provides young people with structure, predictability and consistency;
- Work collaboratively with the ITTC team to implement strategies and plans for individual young people that address presenting issues, facilitate the development of new skills and perspectives, promote positive behavioural outcomes and increase engagement in education, employment, training and community activities;
- Ensure the ITTC Home provides a nurturing, therapeutic, safe and home-like environment (both inside and outside) that supports the physical and emotional safety of each young person;
- Support young people to be safely connected to family and the significant people and places in their lives by facilitating family time and community activities in accordance with the approved plan;
- Promote democracy and support young people and staff to engage in a participatory environment where they can have a say and influence the decision-making process;
- Ensure that the rights of young people are protected, their wellbeing is actively safeguarded and any concerns are reported immediately;
- Ensure that youth work practice is 'Child Safe", therapeutic and responsive to individual client needs, reflecting MacKillop's values, policies and practice frameworks;
- Lead the ITTC Therapeutic Youth Work team through co-operation, collaboration and professionalism, including resolving any conflict in a timely and thoughtful way;
Key Selection Criteria
- To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor Degree in youth work, social work, community services or a relevant field;
- Experience working with young people with complex trauma and an understanding of adolescent development, and trauma, attachment and resilience theory;
- Demonstrated skills and experience in therapeutic residential care, OOHC or child protection, and the ability to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families:
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families;
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team and supervising, coaching and developing staff;
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders;
- High level of initiative, ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, and work to tight deadlines under pressure;
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills;
