About the Role

As Community Engagement Specialist, you'll be at the heart of connecting with communities to raise awareness and drive participation in local sustainability programs. You'll plan and deliver engagement activities that build trust and inspire behaviour change - from information sessions and local partnerships to event activations across metro and regional areas.

This is a hands-on role that combines strategic engagement planning with grassroots delivery. Some regional travel and occasional after-hours or weekend work will be required, with time in lieu and travel expenses provided.

This is a 6-month fixed-term opportunity ideal for an experienced community engagement professional who enjoys hands-on, purpose-driven work.

About You

You're a natural communicator and connector - someone who enjoys engaging with diverse communities and making complex topics feel simple, relevant, and achievable.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or public outreach, ideally in sustainability, energy, or environmental sectors.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across local government, industry, and the public.
  • Proven ability to plan, promote, and deliver engagement activities such as workshops, activations, or events.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills, with a flexible and proactive approach.
  • A genuine interest in helping communities understand and embrace renewable energy solutions.
