About the role

We have an opportunity for a Experienced Pastry Chef to join our passionate pastry team. In this role, you will work directly with our Head of Pastry and pastry team, leading pastry shifts and ensuring efficient production across all our pastry products. In this role you will:

• Work together with the pastry and bakery team to meet daily production numbers of pastry products which include puff pastry, sausage rolls and pies, croissants, fillings such as crème patisserie and jam, cakes vanilla slices and our famous cinnamon scrolls;
• Assist the bakery team with bread products when required;
• Assist with weekly orders, preparation, staffing, stock control and health and safety;
• Assist with training and mentoring of junior members of the pastry team;
• Assist with creating exciting new items in response to the changing needs of our customers;
• Maintaining cleanliness and compliance with health and safety standards;
• Other duties as required.

What we are looking for

• Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a similar environment
• Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
• Lamination skills, Pie cooking, Hand rolling croissants and baguettes (Essential)
• 7-day availability, hours will differ dependant on shift
• Strong organisational skills and proven experience in people management
• Excellent attention to detail
• Reliable and team-focussed attitude, with strong communication skills
• Able to work diligently solo or in a team
• Passionate about bread, cakes and food in general

Big Loaf Factory Bakery is the heart of our food business, producing freshly baked artisan breads, cakes, and other homestyle bakery goods, including our famous cinnamon scrolls. We are passionate about quality food and source all our ingredients from local producers.

The fresh products we create on site are supplied to our 3 stores across Perth (Big Loaf Factory Bakery Shop, North Street Store, Wards Central Dining, and Little Loaf Bakery), as well as a select wholesale customer base. We're on a mission to shape a world where people eat better and everyone on our team are essential in making this happen

Pay: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
