We are seeking a skilled and motivated Spray Painter to apply high-quality finishes to composite components while also supporting composite manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work across multiple stages of composite production.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Spray painting of primers, topcoats, and biofoul paints to composite parts using spray painting techniques, ensuring a flawless finish that meets strict quality standards.
  • Surface preparation of composite parts including sanding, filling and material preparation prior to painting.
  • Maintain and clean spray-painting equipment and workspace.
  • Assist in preparing moulds, performing composite lay-up tasks and infusion of parts.
  • Perform assembly tasks, including fitting, bonding, and fastening composite components.
  • Use hand tools for surface preparation, trimming, and finishing tasks.
  • Inspection of finished components to ensure they meet aesthetic and quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Document and report progress on projects, troubleshooting, and any issues that arise.

Required skills/experience:

  • Proven experience as a spray painter, preferably in the composite, marine, or aerospace industries.
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, including lay-up and resin infusion techniques.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and surface preparation methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions and specifications.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and proper handling of paints, resins, and chemicals.
  • Team player with good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred skills/qualification:

  • Trade qualified spray painter and experience in composites manufacturing.
  • Experience with spray systems and advanced composite materials.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes in a manufacturing environment.
