About the Role

This position will suit a leader who can balance innovation and responsiveness in person-centred practice with the accountability and rigour of contract management and performance delivery.

You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders including CV's Transition and Reintegration Unit, Community Correctional Services, prison management staff and community service partners to maintain and strengthen collaborative relationships that support effective reintegration outcomes.

About Vacro

Vacro is an independent non-profit organisation working with people caught in the criminal justice system and their families. Founded in 1872, we are Victoria's oldest and only specialised criminal justice reintegration service. We provide reintegration, family, and employment support that enables people to create new beginnings for themselves and their families.

We value the expertise of people from a wide range of backgrounds. Because of the work we do, we especially value the expertise of First Nations people, people with lived experience of the criminal justice system, and people of diverse cultural backgrounds and identities. We also welcome applications from people with a criminal record. We do not discriminate based on a person's criminal record, however in some circumstances, contractual or legislative obligations may limit a person's eligibility for certain roles. We are happy to have a confidential discussion about how these requirements may affect a candidate.

Many members of our workforce bring invaluable lived experience that enriches our teams with authenticity and diverse insights. These individuals not only possess professional skills, but also a profound understanding of the challenges and complexities that arise from their personal journeys. Their unique perspectives cultivate empathy and spark innovation, enabling us to develop solutions that are not only practical but also meaningful. At Vacro, you'll be part of a culture that champions inclusivity and values every voice, empowering you to make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

About You

You are a values-driven leader who is deeply familiar with Vacro's Reintegration Practice Framework and committed to embedding it in all aspects of practice and team development. You'll lead with authenticity and purpose, empowering your team to uphold best practice and continually reflect, learn and grow together.

You'll bring:

  • A strong understanding of reintegration case management and a commitment to evidence-informed, person-centred practice.
  • The ability to balance innovation and responsiveness with meeting contract and funding obligations.
  • Proven skills in contract management, data analysis and using insights to assess and strengthen program performance.
  • Experience building and sustaining high-level stakeholder relationships across justice, community and correctional settings.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, practice development and evaluation, including integrating lived experience into program design and delivery.
  • The capacity to identify practice gaps and lead the implementation of creative, effective solutions.
  • A coaching and empowering leadership style that builds capability, confidence and collaboration within the team.
  • A big-picture perspective that contributes meaningfully to Vacro's strategic vision and the evolution of case management practice across the organisation.

The Team

You'll be joining a strong, empowered and dedicated ReConnect team who are passionate about their work and thoughtful in their practice. This is a chance to both learn from and lead a group of strategic thinkers committed to supporting people to achieve their reintegration goals.
