Narromine High School is a vibrant and inclusive 7-12 comprehensive high school, situated just 25 minutes from the regional hub of Dubbo. We take pride in our diverse academic, sporting, and creative programs, where students thrive and excel across various fields. Our school community is enriched by a student population that comprises of 72% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. We value our strong partnerships with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group, Parents and Citizens Organisation, and the Local Aboriginal Land Council. Additionally, we maintain meaningful connections with local primary schools, ensuring a seamless transition for students from Year 6 to Year 7 through our comprehensive transition program.
At Narromine High School, we are dedicated to the wellbeing of our students and the wider community. Our Wellbeing Hub is designed to support health, social, and educational needs. We also offer three support classes, including two Multi-Categorical classes and one Moderate Intellectual/Autism class, reflecting our commitment to inclusive education and effective integration practices. We strive to create a nurturing yet challenging learning environment, focusing on developing lifelong learners who are confident and compassionate members of the community. Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating successful wellbeing programs and/or managing a Wellbeing Hub within a school environment, ensuring the delivery of effective support services that promote positive student wellbeing and engagement.
Proven leadership skills with experience in leading, mentoring, and supporting a diverse team of wellbeing and educational professionals, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement in wellbeing practices.
Comprehensive knowledge of current research related to student wellbeing and a deep understanding of the needs of students from diverse backgrounds with complex learning, health, and social needs.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
