Job Description
BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.
The Opportunity
Do you enjoy the challenge of managing moving parts, and the reward of seeing everything come together? Our Commercial team is looking for a Credit Controller in our Commercial Services and Transformation team, based either at our Mount Waverley, VIC office (working hours: 9:00AM–5:30PM) or in Wingfield, SA (8:30AM–5:00PM). This role offers hybrid working arrangements, including the ability to work from home one day each week.
If you're someone who stays calm under pressure, keeps things moving, and takes pride in bringing clarity to complex situations, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your skills genuinely matter. Your attention to detail, resilience, and ability to build strong relationships will directly support critical business outcomes, making a meaningful impact not just on cash flow, but on the experience we deliver to both customers and internal stakeholders. You'll be empowered to lead your portfolio with confidence, contributing directly to the strength and consistency of our financial operations.
You'll bring your credit control expertise to a fast-paced, high-volume environment that values sharp thinking and practical action. With a focus on cash collection, risk management, and proactive engagement with key partners, you'll help shape how we work, not just what we deliver. Your ability to stay focused, build trust, and make sound decisions will be key to your success. And throughout it all, you'll be supported by a collaborative, inclusive team that values curiosity, continuous learning, and working together to create real, lasting change. Together, we create value that strengthens our business and supports our people.
What Will You Do?
Bring your credit control expertise to a role that challenges you to grow and rewards you with meaningful connections. You're great at building trust and bringing people together, collaborating to solve problems and create smooth, positive experiences for our customers. You'll also:
- manage a portfolio of debtor accounts with a focus on risk reduction, cash collection, and customer outcomes
- develop and maintain reporting on monthly and yearly account trends against forecast
- engage with internal teams, from sales to finance, to ensure timely, accurate responses
- investigate and escalate customer claims efficiently and appropriately
- analyse account performance and provide insights on delinquency and trends
- influence customers in line with agreed trading terms through strong negotiation and relationship-building
- confidently navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities
- support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
More About You
As someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable, you'll be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly. You'll bring:
- previous experience in credit control or accounts receivable, ideally in a high-volume environment
- strong reconciliation skills and sharp eye for detail
- proficiency in MS Excel and experience working with ERP systems
- a clear, professional communication style across phone, email, and digital platforms
- excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
- confident negotiation and influencing skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the desire to make meaningful change
Why BlueScope
As we're creating strength for the future through our people, products and solutions, BlueScope gives you opportunities to innovate, learn and grow with the business, supported by inclusive leadership and a positive, passionate team. At BlueScope, you'll:
- Learn and develop as you grow. With opportunities to build skills specific to your role and aspirations, our lifelong learning culture will support your future career pathways.
- Create innovative solutions. Seek better, smarter ways to solve problems, create sustainable solutions and make things happen.
- Experience connection and care. Experience a positive, inclusive work environment where we look out for each other's safety and wellbeing.
- Deliver work that matters. Every action you take matters in delivering for our customers and strengthening communities for the future. We value what you do.
At BlueScope, we offer work-life flexibility through our B-flex program. We're committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every employee feels respected and valued to be their authentic selves, and welcome people of all backgrounds, skills, experiences and perspectives. We encourage Women and First Nations people to apply. We're passionate about driving sustainability outcomes that matter to our communities, including action on climate and our 2050 net zero goal.
