Grounds worker / Gardener

Full time position 38 hours per week.

Rate: Level 3 Gardener grade 2 - Hospitality Industry General Award 2021

Location: Newman, Western Australia

Oasis @ Newman is a privately owned accommodation facility located 7kms south of Newman, Western Australia. Newman is the Gateway to the Real Outback and is a short distance to world famous attractions, including Karijini National Park, Carawine Gorge and historical Indigenous sites.

Oasis boasts 600+rooms, resort-style swimming pool, dining room, gym, al fresco and recreation room.

We are currently looking for individuals with the appropriate level of experience to fulfill the role of Grounds worker / Gardener.

Job Description:

Landscape Gardeners plan, construct, and maintain outdoor spaces such as parks, gardens, and landscaped areas. They work in residential, commercial, and hospitality environments, including hotels and resorts.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain seedbeds and growing sites
  • Propagate and plant trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, and bulbs
  • Prepare lawn areas by spreading topsoil, planting grass, or laying turf
  • Weed, trim, fertilise, water, and mow lawns and garden beds
  • Ensure reticulation systems are working and maintain as required
  • Prune trees and hedges; install plant supports and protection devices
  • Prepare landscape plans and drawings
  • Select materials and plants for landscaping projects
  • Set out and install hardscape and softscape structures
  • Construct gravel paths, paved areas, fences, pergolas, ponds, and garden furniture
  • Inspect and treat trees and shrubs for pests and diseases
  • Operate and maintain gardening tools and machinery

This role will require some weekend work with accommodation provided for a weekly deduction as per the Hospitality Industry General Award 2021.
