Fleet Controller

we are seeking an experienced Fleet Controller to join our Night Shift team in Yennora. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about fleet management, team leadership, and operational efficiency.

Start Time: 6pm, Monday to Friday

What You'll Be Doing:

• Coordinate the movement of wharf cartage to meet customer requirements efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Daily allocation of work and controlled supervision of drivers and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and fatigue management regulations.
• Manage fleet performance and reporting, including container movements to/from depots and customer sites within terminal slot windows.
• Ensure all transport activities are aligned with customer expectations and minimise risk of penalties or storage charges.
• Oversee P&L elements and implement cost control measures across operations.
• Accurately maintain system data (e.g., Maximas) including job uploads, futile trips, and billing within 24 hours of job completion.
• Ensure timely de-hire of empty containers to avoid detention charges.
• Maintain effective stakeholder communication to meet agreed service levels.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance team capability and performance.
• Escalate or manage instances of driver non-conformance as required.

• Previous experience as a Fleet Controller in wharf cartage or similar logistics environments (essential).
• Experience in managing teams or subcontractors within transport operations.
• Strong working knowledge of CoR, WHS, and fatigue management practices.
• Intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and transport systems such as Maximas, Container Chain, and 1-Stop.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during night operations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to prioritise tasks, resolve issues promptly, and work well under pressure.
