Fleet Controller

**The Opportunity**

Silk has an exciting opportunity for a full time Fleet Controller to join our team based at Yennora.
- Night shift

**You will be responsible for**:

- coordinating the movement of wharf cartage to meet customers’ requirements in an efficient manner
- ensure compliance with chain of responsibility and fatigue management requirements of drivers
- supervise and ensure the efficient daily allocation of work to drivers and sub-contractors
- ability to locate equipment / resources by utilizing available systems (eg. parked or in use)
- timely and accurate completion of administration to ensure work is charged to client within 24 hours of job completion
- ensure all jobs are uploaded correctly and accurately into Maximas to maintain the integrity of a ‘live’ system (eg futile trips)
- coordinate movements of import and export containers from and to depots in accordance with terminal time slot windows
- coordinate movements of import and export containers from customer premises in accordance customer requirement and delivery times
- ensure empty containers are de-hired before the free time allowed to handle the containers expires, ensuring penalties for late de-hire of containers are not incurred
- ensure all transport movements are co-ordinated in the most efficient manner that will prevent storage or penalties being applied
- address or escalate instances of driver non-conformance to the manager

**To be successful in this role you'll have**:

- previous experience as a Fleet Controller within wharf cartage is essential
- an ability to work with mínimal supervision
- formal qualifications in transport & logistics (desirable)
- experience with transport administration systems such as Maximus, Container Chain and 1-stop
- competent computer skills
- great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
