In this role, you'll:
Work with our Wireless & Systems Operations team within the Engineering and Maintenance Branch of Sydney Trains with a focus on field based technical expertise for Radio and Voice communications equipment and technology.
This role will see you joining a technical team of ten people, where you will spend a majority of your time in the field conducting corrective and preventative maintenance on a variety of systems which includes: UHF radio systems and associated radios, NSW TrainLink Diesel Fleet communication systems including the National Train Communication System and ICE radio, mission critical voice communications systems within the Rail Operations Centre (ROC), providing incident response communications systems, and many more. The works within the depot consist of benchtop repairs, equipment configuration and testing, and the opportunity for research and development.
You will be responsible for providing first level support as well as the ability to collaborate with and assist Maintenance Engineer to provide to second and third level support for any failures to assets within service level targets for the division who provide whole of life operation and maintenance of such infrastructure.

About you
Your tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) will be in either Telecommunications / IT / electronics / electrical engineering or you will have equivalent experience. Ideally, you will also have an Industry certification in IT / Voice Communications / Telecommunications / Wireless Networks (CWNA) and hold an ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) Open Cabling Licence. You will also need to hold a current drivers license.
Your recognised with technical expertise in the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio structure space with the ability to analyse, diagnose, and repair high level service faults, identify trends and provide recommendations for their control.
In addition to this, your good communication and collaboration skills and ability to work in a large and complex stakeholder environment will enable you to partner with a team and deliver successful technical outcomes for the business.
This is an Award RC5 Permanent Full-Time role which is field based as well as onsite from our Erskineville Office with paid overtime as well as a paid on call roster. In addition to this, some other Sydney Trains benefits include an issued Opal Card, and salary sacrifice opportunities.
