HR Team Assistant
Full-time | Sydney (Waterloo) | Supportive, values-driven environment
Join a purpose-led organisation making a real difference in the lives of nurses and midwives across NSW.
The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives' Association (NSWNMA) is the professional and industrial organisation representing the interests of nurses and midwives across NSW. We're committed to creating a workplace culture built on collectivism, advocacy, innovation, integrity and courage — where every team member contributes to improving outcomes for our members and the professions we represent.
About the Role
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented HR Team Assistant to join our broad HR team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is completing or has recently completed a HR degree and wants to gain practical, hands-on experience across a wide range of HR activities.
In this role, you'll support our Employee Relations and Payroll functions, assist with recruitment coordination, organise training and development programs, maintain HR systems and data, and help deliver key HR projects. You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team that values learning, growth, and teamwork.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team and Head of HR.
- Assist with recruitment coordination — posting jobs, scheduling interviews, preparing onboarding documents
- Maintain accurate employee information in our HRIS and ensure data integrity across systems
- Coordinate training registrations and update attendance records
- Prepare regular HR reports and reminders (e.g. probation reviews, birthdays)
- Manage correspondence and act as a friendly first point of contact for HR queries
- Support HR projects and other general administrative tasks as required
What You'll Bring
- Currently studying or recently completed a Bachelor of Human Resources, Business Administration or similar
- Strong attention to detail and organisation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- A proactive, curious mindset and a genuine interest in building a career in HR
Why Join Us
- Work in a purpose-driven organisation advocating for nurses and midwives across NSW
- Gain broad HR exposure in recruitment, payroll, learning & development, and employee relations
- Supportive team culture where your development is encouraged
- Convenient Waterloo location, close to public transport
- Competitive salary under the NSWNMA Enterprise Agreement
