This is a unique opportunity to work in one of the most remarkable and remote parts of Australia, offering you both professional challenges and the chance to make a real difference to the health outcomes of the community.

As a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist, you will play an integral role in a well-equipped hospital that serves as the primary referral center for a vast and diverse region. • Provide training and mentorship to medical trainees, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and safety programs.
  • Experience life in one of Australia's most unique and beautiful regions, surrounded by stunning landscapes and a close-knit community.

Your Role:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based anaesthetic care across a variety of medical specialties, including surgery, obstetrics, trauma, and dental procedures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
  • Take part in the supervision, teaching, and development of junior medical staff and anaesthesia trainees.
  • Contribute to clinical governance and participate in ongoing professional development and training.
  • Provide support to other healthcare facilities in the region, as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call roster to support anaesthetic services as required.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary: $525,850 - $650,288 per annum (full-time equivalent).
  • Allowances: Professional development, motor vehicle, rural and regional, and inaccessibility allowances.
  • Accommodation: Provided as per hospital policy.
  • Annual Leave: 5 weeks per year.
  • Professional Development Leave: 3.6 weeks per year.
  • Career Growth: Opportunities for continuous learning and skill development through training programs.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working arrangements with FIFO options available.

Key Requirements:

  • Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in anaesthesia for obstetrics and epidurals.
  • Engagement in continuous medical education and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in paediatric anaesthesia (up to 5 years).
  • Interest or experience in Intensive Care management.
  • Expertise in regional anaesthesia and pain management.
