Gem Kids Academy specialises in helping students prepare for Opportunity Class (OC), Selective High School, and scholarship exams. We run small, engaging classes with structured programs in Maths, English, Thinking Skills, and Writing, all aligned to NSW standards and exam requirements.

The Role

We are seeking a Selective Tutor with outstanding academic results and strong teaching ability to guide high-performing students through advanced concepts and exam strategies. This role is suited for top university students, experienced tutors, or qualified teachers with a proven academic track record.

What You'll Do

  • Teach Selective-style lessons in English, Maths, Writing, and/or Thinking Skills
  • Work with small groups (4–8 students) using structured programs & past papers
  • Explain advanced reasoning and problem-solving strategies clearly
  • Provide detailed feedback on student progress and writing tasks
  • Prepare students for OC, Selective, NAPLAN, and scholarship exams
  • Maintain an encouraging, disciplined, high-expectation classroom environment

You Have

  • ATAR 90+ (or equivalent academic achievement) – required
  • Strong knowledge of NSW curriculum (Years 3–8)
  • Familiarity with Selective/OC exam format and question styles (training provided if new)
  • Ability to challenge gifted/high-achieving students while keeping them motivated
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) – valid for paid work (or willing to obtain)
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Bonus: teaching/tutoring experience in Selective prep.
