About Your Opportunity
As the Environmental Officer you will deliver environmental advice and support within an asset intensive industry. You will assist in the delivery of Seqwater's environmental sampling programs through collection and analysis of scientific samples. In collaboration with the Environmental Advisor and Senior Environmental Advisor you will partner with your key internal stakeholders to improve Seqwater's environmental management capabilities. With general knowledge of environmental legislation and approvals frameworks you will interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure Seqwater's interests and environmental management outcomes are achieved.
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake regional compliance activities and scientific monitoring programs to meet relevant legislation, approvals, policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide technical advice and problem-solving support into project planning, delivery, operations, and maintenance processes.
- Contribute to site-based and project-related environmental audits and risk assessments in accordance with the externally certified environmental management system and ISO14001 international standard.
- Track environmental compliance against approvals, licences, and other legislated obligations.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field.
- C Class Driver's Licence – essential for fieldwork and regional travel.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and reports, with a focus on identifying practical solutions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work effectively with internal and external parties.
Previous experience in a similar role, along with a sound understanding of environmental legislation, policies, procedures and monitoring—and their practical application to operational and project activities—will be highly regarded.
This position will be offered on a full-time 2 year fixed term contract and has a salary of $90,491.17 per annum plus 12.75% superannuation.
