Role Description

This is a contract role for a VMware Architect. The position is based on-site in Sydney, NSW. The VMware Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing VMware environments. Daily tasks include configuring and optimizing VMware vSphere, developing and maintaining technical documentation, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery solutions. The role also includes collaborating with other IT teams to integrate VMware solutions into the overall IT architecture.

Qualifications

VMware certifications (VCP-VCF Architect, VCP-Admin, VCAP-VCF Architect)

Australian Government Security Clearance – NV1 (Mandatory)

TOGAF, ITIL, or IT4IT certifications (Desirable)

Skills & Experience

Extensive hands-on experience with VMware solutions (architecture, design & operations)

Expertise in at least four domains: Cloud & Virtualisation, HA/DR, Automation, Security, Storage/Networking

Proven experience in IT transformation programs & executive stakeholder engagement

Strong client-facing consulting & presentation skills

Key Responsibilities

Lead IT transformation engagements focused on VMware-based private & hybrid cloud

Assess IT environments, identify gaps & develop roadmaps

Present recommendations & business cases to executive stakeholders

Drive operational optimization across capacity, cost, & performance

Lead automation, tool consolidation, process redesign, & operating model enhancements

Act as a trusted advisor on IT strategy, cloud adoption, DevSecOps, and service management
