About the Role

As the Head of Special Education Services, you will bring a strong knowledge of inclusive education and behavior support, with a trauma-informed approach to managing complex student cases. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, working in genuine partnership with families and external agencies. Your leadership will inspire and support staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning while fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture. The Head of Special Education Services is accountable to and works under the direction of the Principal or delegate.

The HOSES is an integral part of a united and cohesive leadership team, which includes the Principal, two Deputy Principals, Head of Curriculum, and Business Manager.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Special Education Services (H01), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, manage and support a team of 7 full-time teachers and 6 teacher aides.
  • Oversee support and intervention programs that enhance learning outcomes for students.
  • Build teacher capability in inclusive practices and curriculum differentiation.
  • Provide complex case management for students, with experience in trauma-informed practice.
  • Develop strong relationships with families and external providers to deliver wraparound support.
  • Contribute to the leadership of the school through behaviour support, professional learning, and collaborative planning.
