What you'll be doing

Use your expertise to assess, plan, and shape quality outcomes in a dynamic, supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

About Us:

At Westmead Hospital, our Occupational Therapy Vision is to "empower through creative problem-solving, clinical excellence, and compassion."

You will be joining our thriving Occupational Therapy team at Westmead Hospital, which is where you'll experience a highly supportive department with a positive team culture. We are a department of approximately 50 clinicians with varied skillsets and knowledge working with acute and rehabilitation patients in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. We prioritise professional, personal, and career development, valuing your growth as an integral part of our success.

We are a cohesive team ensuring clinicians at all levels are involved in department development and decision-making processes to better the department and services we provide for our patients. For example, all OTs are involved in department portfolios and quality projects.

Supervision is a priority within our department, and we will establish the appropriate supervisory supports you require to reach your personal and professional goals.

Professional development is strongly encouraged in the Occupational Therapy department both internally and externally to the organisation. Our well-established education portfolio offers a range of presentations/in-services throughout the year, tailored to meet the learning needs and interests of our clinicians.

We recognise the importance of work-life balance and have various initiatives and arrangements in place to ensure your well-being is prioritised. This includes a well established 'Culture Club' Portfolio who arrange various social gatherings and celebrations to bring the department together.

About you:

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic about making a significant impact in our dynamic healthcare setting and contributing to our positive team culture. We seek someone who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and takes pride in delivering high quality services to both our patients and the organisation. We value a commitment to continuous professional and personal growth, supported by a dedicated team and management.

If you seek a diverse and stimulating work environment, our major trauma hospital offers exposure to a wide range of caseloads and clinical specialties, providing ample opportunities to expand your skills. Working at Westmead Hospital will allow you to significantly impact patient outcomes while advancing your professional development.

About the role:

This is a permanent full-time position within our department working as the Senior Occupational Therapist in the Geriatric inpatient team. This position will be responsible for a clinical caseload as well as supervising level 1/ level 2 Occupational Therapists within the team. We are seeking strong leadership in this space and there are various other roles and responsibilities you will have as a Senior clinician in our department. Our Geri's team is part of the Acute stream within our department meaning you will be working alongside other acute senior clinicians and level 1/ level 2 staff. There are three aged care wards in the hospital which your team is required to cover. The split of the wards is flexible pending clinical demands and staff capacity.
