Campbell Transport is seeking to appoint a Payroll Officer to join our expanding finance team.

Campbell Transport is a locally (WA) owned, leading transport and freight company offering bulk haulage, general freight, and multiple services to our mining clients. Operating for over 20 years, our comprehensive range of efficient commercial freight and logistics solutions has made us one of the leading transport companies in Western Australia.

Based in our office in Jandakot, this is a fast-paced, hands-on role in a dynamic industry. Reporting to the financial controller you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process along with another payroll officer. This includes weekly and ad-hoc payroll runs, onboarding and offboarding, statutory obligations and maintaining accurate employee records. Initially you will also work closely with a internal and external teams migrating our existing payroll system.

This is a collaborative role that will see you work closely with HR, site operations, and finance to ensure a smooth and efficient payroll function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end processing of weekly and ad-hoc payroll runs utilising Definitiv
  • Onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hires and terminations
  • Preparation and lodgement of payroll tax, PAYG, work cover, and superannuation contributions
  • Accurate data collection, calculation, and entry to maintain payroll records
  • Investigation and resolution of payroll discrepancies
  • Calculation and processing of termination payments, leave entitlements, and other deductions
  • Processing workers compensation claims and deductions
  • Maintenance and updating of employee records, including rates, classifications, and master data
  • Providing timely and accurate payroll support and assistanceto employees and managers
  • Other ad-hoc payroll duties as directed by the Financial Controller

Required Experience & Skills

  • At least 2 years of payroll experience within a medium size business (500+ employees)
  • Previous experience utilising Definitiv highly desired

  • Excellent verbal communications skills to quickly build rapport with our various sites across WA

  • Strong technology skills and a willingness to learn
