With over 720 poultry sheds across 62+ broiler farms strategically located in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Queensland, ProTen is at the forefront of the industry. Role Responsibilities
Individual Farm Performance
- Ongoing management in conjunction with ProTen Farm Management and staff of the day-to-day operations of the Broiler Farm allocated.
- Maintain to a reasonable standard all farm property including the dwelling and grounds.
- Liaise with Producer Companies Representatives on all relevant issues and ensure a healthy relationship between said Producer Companies and ProTen is maintained.
- Aim to exceed the minimum performance criteria as per the Producer Company Broiler Chicken Growing Contract.
- Meet all contractual deadlines as required by the Producer Company Broiler Chicken Growing Contract.
- Managing the staff designated to get the best performance at least cost to the employer.
- Use differing shed management techniques to find the optimum bird growing techniques. It will be trial and error but has to be at minimal detrimental effect to the birds.
- Any other duty that ProTen management assigns to maintain the efficient ongoing operation of the farm.
- Oversee the day-to-day interaction with the processors, employees and consult with / resolve confrontational issues. I.e. disagreements on farm husbandry practices.
- Ensure farm presentation is immaculate at all times.
- Willingness to grow and develop within the business for future challenges
Administration
- Collating all invoices and sending to Finance Department
- Maintain ProTen and the processors KPI recording systems, i.e. ileader, MTech
- Detailed monthly report which will include the following: Performance, HR issues, OHS issues, environmental issues, expenditure (labour, R&M etc) general issues etc.
- Signing off all timecards.
- Capital Expenditure Applications
- Budgeting and Reporting to Budget
Animal husbandry and welfare
- Perform duties where animal welfare is of paramount consideration in all interactions with live birds.
- Perform duties in accordance with company and processor standards and procedures.
- Maintain, follow and enforce all Hygiene and Biosecurity procedures according to company and processor standards.
- Ensure bio-security procedures are adhered to and in line with the relevant bio-security manual.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of bird health and welfare.
- Immediately report and act on any breakdowns and maintenance requirements.
- Report all problems that affect performance and production of birds
Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
- Enforce awareness, understanding and compliance with all safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) requirements of ProTen, processes, policies, procedures, regulations and legislation for yourself, your primary farm, other leaders onsite, all employees, contractors, and visitors to your site/s or complex.
- Actively creating an environment that drives continuous improvement in animal welfare, quality, productivity, and environmental awareness
- Proactively ensure all plant, equipment, machinery, PPE, and tools are inspected, maintained in a safe condition, used appropriately and for their primary purpose.
- Undertake area hazard identification, risk assessments, investigations, implement effective risk reduction or control measures, as required.
- Ensure that all contractors have been inducted and are adhering to ProTen and site safety requirement.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for the health and safety of anyone else that may be affected by your actions whilst at work.
- Report any changes, concerns, hazards and incidents within the workplace without delay.
People
- Leading, training and motivating a team to achieve quality outcomes in a professional and commercial environment
- Complete training with Staff, visitors and contractors as per ProTen Policies and Procedures.
- Record and file employee training records
- Ensure employees are trained in tasks before undertaking the task
- Participate in training
- Assess Training needs of staff.

Remuneration package include – base salary, onsite accommodation (3–4-bedroom home, yard and utilities), Batch bonus, phone allowance, some use of a farm Ute after prioritising operational needs, plus super ontop.
