National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA), is the peak industry body representing the interests of the electrical and communications contracting industry across Australia. The Victorian Branch was the founding Branch of NECA, established in 1916. Today we have approximately 1,450 members

NECA a not-for-profit (NFP), run by contractors, for contractors, represents members in all states and territories of Australia. All our Council members – at the national, state and territory level, are electrical contractors. Each Council comprises representation from small, medium, and large enterprises. As a result, we understand what our members need.

NECA provides a comprehensive range of services to our members, ranging from Workplace Health & Safety, Workplace Relations, HR support, Legal services, and a broad range of exclusive member benefits to save contractors both time and money. We exist to promote, safeguard, and advance the interests of members and the broader electrical and communications contracting industry.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Working in the Industry Liaison team and reporting directly to the Manager, Industry Liaison

drawing on your existing knowledge of the electrotechnical industry, the HSEQ Advisor plays a key role in supporting NECA Victoria's commitment to workplace safety and compliance for its members and staff. This role ensures NECA meets its legislative obligations under relevant OH&S and risk management frameworks and provides expert guidance across the membership to foster a proactive safety culture. The HSEQ Advisor services several areas of the industry including technical, OH&S, member support and stakeholder liaison, along with a particular emphasis on electrical contracting, industry innovation and renewable energy fields.

QUALIFICATIONS AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

· Diploma or higher qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.

· A Grade electrician, or demonstrated understanding of the electrotechnology industry

· Construction Induction Card (White Card).

· First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certification.

· Valid Victorian Driver's License.

· Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable)

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is not a 9 to 5 job and requires dedicated commitment to the electrical industry, some activities may be required to be conducted outside of business hours. NECA supports flexible working arrangements and has a flexible working culture to ensure that any such requirements are balanced with overall work-life balance, via implementing mechanisms like time-in-lieu etc. The role will require services to be provided across Victoria, with overnight stays when needed, some interstate travel may also be required. An expectation to work with and support all parts of NECA and to drive effective stakeholder engagement form a key component of the role.
