Primary objective

Support the Environmental Regulation Division by developing and delivering a range of strategic regulatory management

and sustainability projects. This includes providing high level administrative support, advice, and guidance across key

operational areas.

Context statement

The Environmental Regulation Division monitors and ensures compliance with the Territory's environmental laws. The

Division strives to maintain public confidence in the enforcement of those laws. The Division also offers guidance and

education to assist the regulated community comply with their statutory obligations. The Division's work is underpinned by

best practice regulatory PACTT principles (Proportionate, Accountable, Consistent, Transparent, and Targeted).

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Review and update policy, guidance, procedures, templates, and other regulatory documentation.

2. Coordinate freedom of information (FOI) requests for the Division.

3. Assist with the procurement of services on behalf of the Division.

4. Conduct high-level projects in response to the annual assessment of the Division's regulatory maturity and posture in

order to improve our governance, culture, and capabilities.

5. Design and coordinate the Divisional monthly newsletter capturing and promoting key achievements. Coordinate media

and newsletter stories, external facing materials ensuring alignment with corporate branding standards.

  1. Processes Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) issued to licensees by Authorised Officers, liaising with the Fines Recovery

Unit to ensure accurate and timely handling in accordance with regulatory procedures.

7. Maintains public registers and manages content updates for our websites, ensuring published information is current and

compliant with public communications obligations.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Understanding of the FOI structure, processes and rules, and experience with coordinating FOI requests.

2. Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, appropriately, and

effectively with industry, government, and the community.

3. High level organisational skills with an ability to complete tasks and deliver work to agreed standards and timeframes

with limited supervision.

4. Ability to be self-directed as well as working effectively as part of a team and to support team development.

  1. Developed conceptual and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to deliver clear, logical, and innovative solutions.
  2. Knowledge of procurement framework rules and processes including sourcing, tendering and contract management in

order to lead procurement panels.

Desirable

1. Understanding of, and experience with interpreting legislation in order to apply this when amending guidelines, standard

operating procedures, and other documentation.
