As a Personal Trainer, you know that exercise is medicine, helping older people to live longer, be healthier, feel happier and mitigate cognitive decline. You will also be well aware that only around 1 in 10 Australians over the age of 50 exercise enough to gain cardiovascular benefit. Avanti is setting out to change that

Older people tell us that they are intimidated by commercial gyms, with their 'alpha types' and 'awful music'. We created Avanti as a place where our clients can feel at home, safe, and supported by health professionals. The unique points of difference of the Avanti model include the provision of a facility exclusive to over 50s, state-of-the-art equipment powered by advanced technology suitable for all fitness levels, expert advice and supervision from experienced health professionals, supplemented by undergraduate students on practicum placements. Exposure and interaction across the generations provides a dual benefit to both clients and the exercise professionals of tomorrow.

Personal Trainer - Full Time position – Avanti Townsville

Primary Purpose of Position

  • Deliver care as a Personal Trainer for the over 50's members of Avanti Townsville.
  • Perform initial exercise program orientations and liaise with on staff Exercise Physiologists when working with clients with complex medical co-morbidities.
  • Proactively supervise the gym floor to ensure members are exercising safely and with appropriate technique.
  • Assist with Front of House, new member sales and retention activities

Essential attributes:

  • Ability to motivate and support our members by bringing positive energy to the gym floor.
  • Cert III or IV in Personal Training
  • Rostered Hours: 6am - 2pm - Monday to Friday
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and with high levels of initiative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written/spoken).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certificates
  • Disability Worker Screening Check and Police check mandatory.
