About the Role 

At Tomago Aluminium, our people are transforming the business for a sustainable future. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter / Machinist to join our Central Workshop team. In this hands-on role, you'll perform maintenance, rebuilds, and precision machining to ensure the reliability and efficiency of critical equipment. You'll be part of a collaborative team that values safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and rebuild mechanical equipment to maximise performance and reliability
  • Machine and mill precision parts to specification
  • Overhaul and rebuild rotable components to schedule and spec
  • Respond to breakdowns and failures to support production continuity
  • Implement and verify equipment modifications and improvements
  • Create or update rebuild documentation
  • Collaborate with other teams to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in all tasks
  • Uphold all safety procedures and standards.

Essential Criteria:

  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Certificate
  • Experience in heavy industrial and rebuild workshop environments
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Flexibility to support shift coverage when needed
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
