Product Technologist

About the role -

• Based in the south eastern suburbs.
• Mon to Friday with standard working hours
• Permanent full time position
• You'll be reporting to the Technical Manager

About your duties -

• Lead product and packaging development projects from concept to execution.
• Formulate new products and ensure compliance with Food Standards Code.
• Scale up lab-developed products to full manufacturing with detailed specifications.
• Conduct and report on factory trials and experimental designs.
• Maintain accurate product specs, labelling, and BOM data.
• Provide technical support across product development disciplines.
• Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams during trials and investigations.
• Respond to technical queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Support system maintenance for specifications, recipes, and labelling.
• Review and troubleshoot recipe and Bill of Material changes.
• Build and share technical knowledge through mentoring and documentation.
• Manage supplier relationships and protect proprietary information.
• Ensure supplier changes follow procurement and change control processes.
• Participate in safety initiatives and incident investigations.
• Contribute to team culture and uphold company values.

About you –

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Product Technologist in the food industry
• Previous experience working in FMCG, preferably within the confectionary sector.
• Holds a tertiary qualification in Food Science, Technology, or a related field.
• Experienced in product development and food safety system implementation.
• Knowledgeable in food safety standards including SQF, BRC, HACCP, DFSV, and Export.
• Familiar with regulatory frameworks for Vegan, Organic, Halal, and ANZ Food Standards Code.
• Demonstrates strong analytical and technical skills with a solution-focused mindset.
• Communicates clearly and effectively with excellent attention to detail.
• Influences stakeholders and drives outcomes through collaboration and credibility.
• Builds strong relationships and works effectively as a team player
