About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Surgical Services team as Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Kate Hill Ward, where you will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert, person-centred nursing care and oversee daily patient care outcomes within the ward, ensuring culturally sensitive partnerships with patients and families.
  • Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in leadership duties, including staff performance management, recruitment, rostering, and resource planning to maintain smooth ward operations.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary services, assist in resolving care or service delivery issues, and actively support change management initiatives.
  • Mentoring and supporting clinical education by guiding students and less experienced staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Promoting a positive, safe, and collaborative team environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and recognition of cultural diversity.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered Nurse or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible for a current practicing certificate.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience, with demonstrated competence in surgical nursing and paediatric surgical nursing.
  • Experience supervising student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, ethical standards, and quality improvement systems in healthcare.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
