About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Surgical Services team as Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Newland Ward, where you will be responsible for:

• Delivering Advanced Clinical Care: Providing proficient, person-centred nursing care and overseeing daily patient outcomes within a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Supporting the Team: Mentoring and guiding less experienced staff, fostering a positive and professional team culture.
• Supporting Unit Operations: Assisting the Nurse Unit Manager with daily ward operations including rostering, staffing, recruitment, and performance management.
• Driving Quality and Improvement: Participating in clinical audits, promote best practice care, and support implementation of practice improvements and change initiatives.
• Promoting Education and Development: Facilitating clinical teaching, contributing to a culture of learning, and supporting ongoing staff development and portfolio maintenance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Registered Nurse (or eligible) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding a current practicing certificate.
• Minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience, including demonstrated competence in surgical nursing.
• Experience in paediatric surgical nursing and supervising student nurses, enrolled nurses, and junior registered nurses.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, professional standards, and quality improvement systems.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, with excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to manage workloads efficiently, demonstrate creativity and flexibility, and engage positively with culturally diverse populations.
