Role Description
This is a contract position for a
hands-on Data Analyst / PIM Data Management Specialist
supporting our manufacturing client with headquarters in Melbourne and subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and New Zealand. They are implementing a global Product Information Management (PIM) capability based on the Akeneo SaaS platform, to acquire, centralise, enhance, and master product data across manufacturing, marketing, sales, and digital channels. This role will support the data migration and cleansing stream of the PIM project — ensuring clean, complete, and well-structured product data is prepared and migrated into Akeneo.
This role suits a detail-oriented, technically capable individual who enjoys working with large datasets, CSV transformations, and automating repetitive data operations. You'll join a small, agile delivery team collaborating with internal and external SMEs to continuously improve product data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, cleanse, and transform
product data from Salesforce and other systems into Akeneo-ready formats using Excel, Python, and command-line tools. - Execute data migrations
— preparing, validating, and uploading CSV files into Akeneo, and reviewing import logs and outcomes for accuracy. - Develop and maintain data-migration tools
, including Excel templates, Power Query models, and Python scripts for mapping, validation, and automation. - Collaborate with business SMEs and technical teams
to refine attribute mappings, family structures, select lists, and reference entities. - Perform data quality assurance
through reconciliation, completeness checks, and exception tracking across multiple test cycles. - Identify opportunities for automation
and process improvement within the data migration and validation workflows. - Document and improve repeatable processes
for data migration, cleansing, and QA to build out a scalable "data migration factory." - Coordinate and support business users
in data remediation and attribute clarification during migration preparation.
Your Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
, including Power Query, structured tables, and modern formulas (LET, LAMBDA, dynamic arrays). - Strong working knowledge of
Python
for data manipulation and automation (using pandas, csv, or similar libraries). - Practical experience with
data migration and ETL lifecycles
— extract, transform, load, and validation. - Skilled in handling
large CSV datasets
, including delimiters, quoting, and file integrity. - Familiarity with
command-line utilities
(e.g., csvkit, grep, xsv) for data validation and transformation. - Exposure to
version control systems
such as GitHub. - Experience with
PIM/MDM systems
(ideally Akeneo) and
Salesforce Product2
data structures is advantageous. - Understanding of
data governance
, attribute completeness, and reference entity concepts. - Experience working with
product data
in manufacturing, wholesale, or retail environments. - Strong
attention to detail
,
analytical thinking
,
clear communications
, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
Additional Details
Our client is located in
Melbourne's northern suburbs
, along major transport routes. Hybrid working is possible. The initial contract will be for 6 months, with a potential / likely extension.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the foundation of a global manufacturer's PIM journey.
