The Role:

The Senior Technical Officer is required to undertake a range of activities to support the State Planning Commission in its responsibilities pursuant to the Planning Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 processing of land development applications. The incumbent is also responsible for the provision of complex expert technical advice for the development assessment process to internal and external stakeholders. You will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Undertake and contribute to professional projects and activities, including assessments, strategic planning, and change and improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and priorities.
  • Perform research, data analysis, and interpretation of findings to develop technical documents, reports, and correspondence that support the effective management of assigned programs, projects, assets, systems, and services.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address concerns, provide input, and facilitate progress on assigned programs, projects, systems, and services, fostering collaborative relationships and effective communication.
  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of assigned programs and projects, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with standards, and continuous improvement through evidence-based practices.

About You:

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:

  • Interpreting and applying legislation, including weighing up competing considerations and forming a cohesive argument which justifies the decision.
  • Detailed accurate preparation of financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Proven ability to solve problems, provide expert advice, exercise initiative and judgement in often difficult and complex organisational situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contribute to a culture of teamwork and take a shared responsibility for achieving results.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Knowledge of Government policy objectives, processes, agency structure functions.
  • Knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the functions associated with land division processes.

Special Conditions:

Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.

Remuneration:

ASO5 – $85,790 min – $95,413 max.
