Position Summary:

We are looking for a Design Engineer to lead our design/engineering team and play a critical role in creating, developing and improving new product introduction and existing product production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and ensure product quality in line with Australian Standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Documentation

  • Create 2D/3D designs, drawings, and plans using AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
  • Develop CNC programs for AMADA sheet metal machines.
  • Prepare installation drawings, service manuals, and technical documents.
  • Standardize and maintain documentation, including statutory approvals.

2. Product Development & Engineering

  • Design and prototype new products with Sales, Service, and Marketing teams.
  • Support and supervise the Design/Engineering team in developing gas and electrical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.

3. Process Improvement & Production Support

  • Review and improve manufacturing processes and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with Operations to resolve bottlenecks and boost efficiency.
  • Innovate methods to accelerate assembly and increase output.

4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with Australian regulations (AGA, Watermark, etc.).
  • Verify all products meet safety and customer requirements.

5. Reporting & Market Analysis

  • Monitor and report on KPIs and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Regularly analyze competitor products for benchmarking and improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or related field).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in manufacturing environments / commercial kitchen industry.
  • Strong technical background in areas such as electrical systems, mechanical assembly, AutoCAD drafting, and equipment programming.
  • Proven experience with lean manufacturing principles and involvement in the implementation or management of lean production initiatives.
