About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, professional and experienced Medical Receptionist to join our small, close-knit administrative team in a part-time capacity. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about patient care and thrives in a high-performing, fast-paced environment within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a warm, professional welcome.
- Manage appointment scheduling for medical, surgical and cosmetic consultations, including theatre bookings.
- Provide clear and compassionate communication with patients, ensuring timely follow-ups and efficient coordination.
- Accurately process daily billings, payments and Medicare claims.
- Prepare treatment quotes and manage correspondence via phone, email and online enquiries.
- Maintain patient records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support doctors and clinical staff with general administrative duties.
- Contribute to the smooth operation of the front desk and maintain a tidy, well organised reception area.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience (minimum of 1+ years) in a medical reception role, ideally within a specialist or dermatology practice.
- Proficiency with Genie software (preferred), or high computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Sound knowledge of Medicare billing, item numbers and referral requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a professional and compassionate manner.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work, including availability to work a mix of both opening and closing shifts (between 7:30am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday).
Note: Saturday work is not required and there is an annual shutdown over the Christmas/New Year period of between 2-3 weeks. - A genuine interest in patient care and the services we offer.
