YOUR ROLE

As Treasury and Tax Accountant within the Finance, Infrastructure and Digital (FID) Directorate, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day treasury operations and ensuring MACS meets its tax compliance obligations (GST and FBT).

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate cashflow reporting, overseeing corporate banking administration, reconciling corporate credit cards, and coordinating tax reporting and returns. This role is key in ensuring robust financial controls and driving process improvements that enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Group Finance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage MACS treasury function including cashflow forecasts, fund transfers, and administration of corporate banking facilities.
  • Prepare and lodge tax compliance reports (GST and FBT), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain and update corporate credit card and bank account records, including reconciliations and stakeholder communication.
  • Support disbursement of school funding and manage related journal entries and accounting records.
  • Facilitate loan arrangements and transactions for MACS and associated entities.
  • Assist in ongoing process improvements and internal control enhancements across treasury and tax functions.
  • Provide hands-on support to Group Finance in relation to treasury, tax, and financial operations.

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business or Accounting (desirable).
  • Full or progressing membership with CPA Australia or CAANZ.
  • Demonstrated experience in treasury and tax functions in a medium-sized organisation.
  • Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and tax legislation (especially GST and FBT).
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment.
