We are seeking a Group Manager Commercial and Procurement to lead our Commercial & Procurement Team, within our Finance & Business Performance Division.

The Opportunity
As the Group Manager Commercial and Procurement you will lead and manage Hunter Water's procurement strategies and commercial transactions, helping connect internal customers to the goods and services they need while safeguarding Hunter Water's commercial interests.
What you'll do:
- Leadership and accountability for the Commercial & Procurement Group including the ongoing development and management of Hunter Water's commercial and procurement vision, model, strategy, policies, processes, capability and outcomes.
- Monitor emerging commercial and procurement trends, practices, technologies and issues to ensure delivery and performance towards best practice standards that are cost effective and deliver value for money for Hunter Water and the community.
- Develop and foster a high performing team that exhibits customer focused behaviour with a positive and proactive team culture, and who constantly challenge the status quo.
- Provide strategic advice, guidance and reporting to leadership, the Board and the Government on spend and supplier analysis, emerging risks and opportunities to improve Hunter Water's commercial and procurement outcomes and decision-making.
- Create and deliver sustainable procurement initiatives and implement measurable targets aligned to Hunter Water's strategy and community expectations.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Law, Project Management or related field
- Comprehensive background in commercial and procurement at a senior level with a strong sense of business ethics and probity
- Demonstrated experience in leading, coaching and mentoring high-performance teams
- Demonstrated application of strategic sourcing and contracting across a range of categories
- Well-developed business/commercial acumen with a focus on customer service
- Significant evidence of a high-level capacity to lead and direct strategic change
Desirable Criteria:
- Post Graduate qualifications in procurement, supply chain, Commercial Law or related field
- Work Experience in a Utility or Government Sector
- Demonstrated experience in building partnerships and strategic alliances to achieve mutual outcomes
