Thinking Works is a leading Australian designer and manufacturer of commercial furniture, known for blending creativity with functionality. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a detail-driven Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator to join our operations team and help keep our supply chain running smoothly.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role where you'll manage procurement activities across local and international suppliers, coordinate import logistics, and maintain accurate inventory records to support our production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Overseas Purchasing


• Forecast component demand and raise purchase orders.


• Maintain a replenishment schedule to support production.

Import Logistics


• Coordinate packing with overseas suppliers.


• Book and manage shipments with freight forwarders.


• Plan container receipt and unpacking with warehouse staff.


• Arrange pickup of empty containers.


• Record shipments in the ERP system.

Supplier Liaison


• Communicate with overseas suppliers.


• Resolve product quality issues.

Local Purchasing


• Raise purchase orders for subcontracted services (e.g., powder coating, metalwork).


• Ensure timely supply of consumables and components.


• Track deliveries and follow up with suppliers.


• Receipt and close purchase orders in the system.


• Manage quality issues with local suppliers.

Procurement & Sourcing


• Respond to pricing requests from design and sales teams.


• Source and evaluate supplier quotes.

Warehouse & Inventory Management


• Maintain accurate inventory records.


• Coordinate regular cycle counts.


• Report on stock levels and discrepancies.

ERP System Management


• Update supplier profiles and contact details.


• Maintain pricing and costing data.

What You'll Bring


• Experience in purchasing, inventory, or supply chain coordination.


• Strong organisational and communication skills.


• ERP system proficiency (e.g., MYOB, SAP, or similar).


• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
