Purchasing & Inventory Specialist

Location
: Liverpool Area, South-West Sydney
Salary Package
: $110k - $120k + Super + Bonus
Role Highlights
: If you've ever walked into a warehouse mid-move, with pallets everywhere and systems half-rolled out, and thought "This is exactly where I can make a difference" then this one's for you.
Role Overview
I've partnered with a privately owned Australian business that's known for innovation, design, and sustainability in the commercial manufacturing space.
The business has just moved to a larger site, rolled out a new ERP, and is in the thick of transforming how it manages purchasing and stock.
Right now, things are messy. They know it. They need someone who thrives on bringing order to the chaos, who's excited to design better systems, and who has the practical experience to make it stick.
You'll work closely with the Operations Manager and Production Scheduler as a tight-knit team of three. Together, you'll own purchasing across local and overseas suppliers, streamline stock control, and help rebuild a warehouse operation holding more than 3,500 pallets of inventory. With long-term supplier relationships in place, this isn't about hard-nosed negotiation, it's about communication, trust, and ensuring materials flow into production at the right time and cost.
Responsibilities
- Oversee local and overseas purchasing across raw materials, consumables, and subcontracted services
- Manage import logistics, containers, and freight forwarders
- Take control of warehouse and inventory management - stock levels, forecasting, and cycle counts
- Partner with suppliers to resolve quality issues and maintain long-term relationships
- Support the roll-out of new systems and introduce best practice processes
- Work with Operations, Production, and Planning teams to ensure materials are on hand to meet production schedules
Candidate Profile
This is a hands-on role for someone who doesn't just plan improvements - they deliver them. You'll be just as comfortable in the office analysing stock data as you are on the warehouse floor solving problems with the team.
We're looking for someone who:
- Strong experience in purchasing, supply chain, and inventory management
- Background in manufacturing or warehousing or complex environments
- Proven success working through messy change - new systems, warehouse moves, stock challenges
- Excellent communication and supplier management skills
- Systems savvy, with advanced Excel skills and ERP exposure (MYOB, SAP or similar would be great)
- A sleeves-rolled-up mindset: practical, collaborative, and driven to make improvements
Culture & Benefits
This is a business with roots going back decades, but with the mindset of a modern, innovative manufacturer.
The culture is friendly, diverse, and supportive - led by people who value collaboration and are ready to invest in getting this right.
Here, no one is left to fail. You'll have the backing of an experienced Ops Manager, a strong Production Scheduler who was in this role previously, and a leadership team that cares about both people and outcomes.
- Full-time permanent role, Monday-Friday
- Make an impact -
