Shape the future of tourism, culture, and community development in one of NSW's most dynamic regional centres
About Us
Narrabri Shire Council is a forward-thinking and community-focused organisation located in the heart of Northwest NSW. Framed by the Nandewar Ranges and open blue skies, our region offers a unique mix of rural charm, natural beauty, and economic opportunity — from traditional agriculture to energy and emerging industries.

About the Role
We're seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Manager Tourism and Cultural Services to lead a high-performing, community facing team across our Tourism, Libraries, Community Development, and Events functions.
In this role, you'll drive tourism growth, celebrate local culture, and strengthen community connection. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and inspiring a team to deliver exceptional tourism and community outcomes.
- Providing oversight and continuous improvement of Council's library services, ensuring they remain inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs
- Identifying and facilitating sustainable tourism growth opportunities through strategic planning and partnerships.
- Overseeing the promotion and delivery of our library services, tourism and cultural programs, events, and initiatives.
- Building strong relationships with local businesses, community groups, and government stakeholders.
- Managing funding submissions and event bids to maximise economic and social benefits for the Shire.
- Contributing to the Integrated Planning and Reporting framework through effective implementation and performance tracking.
For more information on the role, please see the attached position description or contact Andrew Ireland, Interim Director Corporate and Community Services on

- Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and stakeholder relationships.
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to influence and build trust.
