Applications are invited for the position of Events & Tourism Officer (Parental Leave), based at Council's Visitor Information Centre. The successful application will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Council programs aimed at securing opportunities for tourism, marketing, economic and business development.

As per clause 36 of the Local Government (State) Award 2023 this role is subject to a term contract of a minimum period of 12 months to temporarily replace a permanent staff member availing of leave. Council reserves the right to offer an extension of this term contract to the successful candidate, contingent on operational requirements.

Essential:

Qualifications

  • Higher School Certificate or equivalent

    OR

    NSW School Certificate/Record of School Achievement and satisfactory experience;
  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence;

Skills and Experience

  • Understanding and knowledge of local tourism;
  • Skills and experience in developing and delivering effective digital marketing;
  • High energy, enthusiasm, ability to think outside the square and be creative;
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful coordination of program and initiatives in related fields;
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and reporting, inclusive of business cases;
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to work efficiently with good time management skills requiring minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work with Council, community groups, business owners and members of the public;
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills including MS Office Suite; and
  • Working knowledge of work health & safety and equal employment opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications or appropriate experience in tourism and hospitality, commerce, economics, marketing, development or similar discipline.

Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of tourism marketing, business development and community issues;
  • Skills and experience to deliver a positive and effective corporate social media presence;
  • Skills and experience to develop and publish content to the corporate website;
  • Demonstrated experience in the successful coordination of program and initiatives in related fields;
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and reporting, inclusive of business cases; and
  • Previous Local Government experience.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023. The classification for the position will be in a range from Operational Band 1, Level 3, Grade 6. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $1,136.34 to $1,222.94 gross per week.
