Position Overview
The Store Manager will manage an established depot for a 132kV transmission line project, setting up and overseeing inventory management processes and systems for the receipt, storage, and distribution of Client-Supplied Materials (e.g., steel poles, conductors, insulators, OPGW). Reporting to the Construction Manager and supported by an operator and rigger, the role ensures efficient inventory control, logistics, and communication with the Client on material status and surpluses, supporting ~950 pole installations across varied terrains.

Position Requirements

  • Education/Certifications: Certificate IV in Warehousing Operations or equivalent vocational qualification. Inventory management or hazardous materials certification required.
  • Experience: 5+ years in materials management within utilities/construction, including 2+ years supervising. Experience with high-voltage components (e.g., conductors, OPGW).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for setting up inventory tracking. Knowledge of safe storage for electrical materials and logistics in remote sites.
  • Logistics/Compliance: Skilled in coordinating bulk deliveries and transport to field sites (e.g., via 4WD). Understanding of WHS and environmental regulations for material handling.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication for liaising with Client and field teams; adept at managing high-volume requests under tight timelines.
  • Other: Valid driver's license; ability to work in industrial environments; police clearance.

Desirable Requirements

  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with 66kV/132kV transmission materials and Client free-issue processes.
  • Advanced Skills: Familiarity with digital tracking (e.g., RFID) and sustainable waste management.
  • Project Exposure: Background in utility projects with staged delivery.
  • Leadership: Managed teams of 5+ in depot settings.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Inventory System Setup/Operations: Implement inventory management processes and systems within 4 weeks, ensuring secure, weatherproof storage and efficient layout for drop-off/pick-up.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain 100% inventory accuracy, conducting 24-hour receipt inspections and reporting defects within 1 business day.
  • Field Support/Logistics: Achieve 95% on-time fulfillment of field requests, coordinating transport to sites (e.g., Kurri STS, Muswellbrook BSP).
  • Client Reporting/Compliance: Notify Client of surpluses to reduce waste by 10%, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
