The Opportunity

Working under the leadership of the Head of Laboratory Operations, we are seeking an experienced Supervisor to oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring quality control, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow management.  You will guide Team Leaders, manage workflow, and help foster a high-performing, inclusive and supportive team culture. This role is central to ensuring smooth specimen flow, optimal turnaround times, and consistent service quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership to Team Leaders, setting expectations and supporting performance management, capability, and professional development.

  • Oversee day-to-day workflow across the Histology laboratory ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

  • Partner closely with Team Leaders, Laboratory Staff and Executive staff to align daily operations with clinical priorities.

  • Lead and support workforce activities, including, recruitment, onboarding, skill development, and succession planning.

  • Act as the operational link between laboratory teams to maintain seamless, safe, and high-quality specimen handling.

About You

You are a technical expert with fantastic people skills who will lead with clarity, empathy, and confidence. You enjoy solving problems collaboratively and maintaining a steady, positive environment, even during busy periods.

You will bring:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience in leading staff in histology workflows within a diagnostic pathology setting.

  • Strong understanding of NATA accreditation requirements and Histology laboratory workflow.

  • Confidence in coordinating workloads, rostering, supporting staff, and resolving operational and quality issues in real time.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to patient quality and service excellence.

  • Experience mentoring, training, performance management, andsupervising others.

  • Knowledge of NATA quality systems, Laboratory Information Systems, and/or PowerPath is advantageous.

  • Ability to work full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend support if required. Flexibility on shift times would be required based on business demand.
